Imola (29th May) – Yan Shom achieved the 3rd place in Race 3 in Imola, confirming to be one of this season’s protagonists and also confirming the excellent technical work done by the RB Racing team.
The weekend started with difficult qualifying practice for him, due to an exit on the gravel in the 1st session and an accident in the 2nd one, where he achieved the 12th timing even if he made only 4 laps. In Race 1, he had to retire after a contact and in Race 2, the Safety Car controlled most of the race not allowing him to make better than 10th. In the end, in Race 3 he was 2nd behind Correa, but the race director displayed the red flag for the accident between Vips and Ciantini, so the classification was made on the previous lap, so he ended 3rd, conquering a podium that will give him a great incentive for the next races.
On the other side, Fernandez was more unlucky, as after an engine problem in the free practice, he didn’t have a brilliant qualifying practice. Moreover, both in Race 1 and in Race 2, he was involved in race contacts. In the last race, another technical problem didn’t allow him to recover, even if it would have been impossible due to the Safety Car, considering that the race lasted only 5 laps.
